I love giving gifts. Taking the time to find the perfect item to give someone, it's special to me. Especially if I can think of something that they didn't even know they needed. This year, I decided to make nearly all of the Christmas gifts we gave. Thank God for Pinterest.
For our siblings, parents and friends, I decided to make vanilla, apple cider spice mix, and cinnamon honey butter (Texas Roadhouse Butter). All of these were super simple to make! I even found free printable labels on Pinterest. I have heard nothing but compliments about the things that people have tried. As a bonus, they can reuse the jars when they finish it! I especially love these bottles. I threw in holiday tea towels for a festive touch.
For nieces and nephews we made Fort Kits. These included thrifted sheets, clips, flashlights, snacks, all the essentials for creating great memories! Super simple and we have already gotten pictures of some great forts! Things like this give me purpose.
I recently realized that I like to give gift baskets, lots of little things that go together in some way, but still practical. It doesn't necessarily save money, but it does tend to be more worth it in the long run. They don't have to be complicated or extravagant. Bows, cellophane, ribbon, and filler paper aren't necessary to bring a smile to someone's face. All they need is for you to put a little bit of extra care and attention to what people need and want.
